This is a stand-alone course that can be completed without any prior knowledge about driving or disabled parking.
Overview
Parking bays allocated as disabled parking in public spaces provide a wider space, an accessible path and a closer route to buildings for persons with disabilities. Join us to learn more about the importance of disabled parking and how we as health professionals can assess individuals for eligibility, thereby promoting access.
In this course attendees will:
- Understand disabled parking and learn about the signage and specifications of parking spaces in South Africa.
- Gain an understanding of the legislation and challenges in South Africa.
- Be introduced to accessibility and the rights of persons with disabilities.
- Recognise the role of the health professional and understand how to navigate the application processes for disabled parking.
- Be guided through the assessment process for eligibility.
- Learn the processes for applications in the City of Cape Town.
