About Us
Who we are
In 2013 a small group of Occupational Therapists started meeting, to support each other and upskill their knowledge base, with the aim of improving the driving intervention services they were delivering to their clients. Over the years the group has grown into a national collaborative network. This led to the creation of the DFC in 2020, with the vision of working together to advance the field of driving and community mobility intervention in Southern Africa.
The DFC is registered as a Non Profit Company and operates as a Voluntary Association as well as a Special Interest Group under OTASA.
Mission
The mission of the DFC is to educate, support and collaborate with Occupational Therapists and stakeholders, to help them provide professional and best practice driving and community mobility evaluation and rehabilitation services to clients. The DFC aims to advance this field of practice through leadership, advocacy, research and networking.
