Topic Description
Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) require a unique approach for evaluation and training. This workshop will summarize the latest autism research on driving risk, types of driving errors, and clinical assessment tools. Through lectures, case examples, and hands on activities, participants will understand the challenges and opportunities for individuals with autism. Participants will learn methods to evaluate whether a new driver with ASD is ready to pursue driving and use a decision tree to decide the best approach for driver education. The workshop will also cover driver-training techniques and tools that support the learning preferences of individuals with ASD.  Â
