Overview
This level 1 course aims to provide the attendee with an introduction in the theory, administrative requirements, screening processes and interventions related to driving and community mobility.
In this course, consisting of 8 lessons, the attendee will learn about:
- The occupation and task analysis of driving.
- The role of the Occupational Therapist and the South African guidelines on functional driving evaluation.
- Introduction to medical fitness to drive.
- Legislation, ethics and liability pertaining to driving intervention.
- Fitness to drive screening.
- Introduction to adaptive driving.
- Introduction to driving rehabilitation.
- Driving cessation and community mobility.
After completing the course, the attendee will have the knowledge and skills to confidently screen clients and create intervention plans for community integration, using best practice principles.
